Playboy magazine’s print edition was in its death throes long before coronavirus. I think Playboy‘s publishers are using the pandemic as an excuse for them to bow out and try to save face, instead of prolonging the agony of continuing to publish a dying magazine.
The current editors were straying too far from the magazine’s roots, which were erotic in nature, and trying to change the magazine into a platform for them to boast about their wokeness. The original editors at Playboy certainly used the magazine to skewer American mores, but still the main thrust of the magazine was on eroticism and entertainment. They weren’t out to change the world. Hence the centerfolds of nude voluptuous women. The current Playboy has lost that thrust. Maybe because the current editors are homosexuals and women who are more concerned with social activism than with eroticism for the sake of eroticism and entertainment.

Buy a hundred years’ worth of toilet paper, and you won’t get the coronavirus.
